SOMA explores the human body as both structure and ornament.

Its sculptural front panel transforms the contours of the torso into a three-dimensional leather form, with the chest, waist, hips, and surrounding curves becoming part of the architecture of the bag itself.

Rather than applying decoration onto a conventional silhouette, SOMA allows the body to define the silhouette.

The result sits somewhere between handbag, sculpture, and wearable object — anatomical yet abstract, sensual without being delicate, and intentionally difficult to categorize.

The interior is finished in silver goatskin leather, creating a cool metallic contrast against the sculptural exterior.

Sculptural Design

The defining element of SOMA is its three-dimensional front construction.

The surface is shaped around an abstracted human torso, translating anatomical curves into leather volume. Chest, waist, abdomen, and hip-like forms gradually emerge from the surface rather than appearing as separate decorative elements.

The body is not simply represented on the bag.

It becomes the bag.

Viewed from different angles, light moves across the raised leather surface and continuously changes the perception of its form, making SOMA feel closer to a small sculpture than a conventional handbag.

Construction

Creating SOMA requires a combination of traditional leathercraft and sculptural construction.

The dimensional forms are developed through layered leather structures, shaping, cutting, compression, and assembly. Certain areas are built from multiple layers before material is gradually removed and refined, allowing the volume to be controlled much like subtractive sculpture.

The sculptural front is integrated into the structure of the bag rather than applied as a superficial decorative panel.

This process gives SOMA its characteristic depth, weight, and physical presence while preserving a functional interior.

Interior

The interior is lined with silver goatskin leather.

Its smooth surface and metallic tone create a deliberate contrast with the darker, more organic exterior, giving the inside of the bag a colder and more futuristic character.

The silver lining is not treated as a hidden functional detail, but as part of SOMA's overall material language.

Craftsmanship

Every SOMA bag is individually handcrafted by STONEHEART.

From leather cutting and structural preparation to shaping, stitching, assembly, and final finishing, each stage is completed by hand with close attention to proportion, contour, and surface continuity.

Because much of the sculptural form is created manually, subtle differences may appear from one piece to another.

These variations are not defects. They are part of the process and make each SOMA slightly unique.

Natural variations in leather grain, texture, creasing, and color are also inherent characteristics of genuine leather.
